Radio Sport Woodford Glen Speedway - Christchurch
Saturday 29 December 2007
It was a much improved field that fronted in Christchurch, compared with the previous season. Held over one night, the dat matched its North Island counterpart, so was the first equal Grand Slam event of the 2008 season. With just the sinlge night meeting, the format was the standard 3-heats, with all entrants admitted and no qualifying process was needed.

The Rock Riverside Speedway - Invercargill
Saturday 5 March 2007
This was the final Grand Slam event of the 2007 season, with Invercargill hosting its first South Island Championship since 1998. Unfortunately it was a disappointing turnout with only 10 drivers making the haul to our southern most racetrack. Held over one night, the format was the standard 3-heats.

Half the field consisted of Christchurch cars, while no cars from the home track were available for competition! Defending champion Dale Ewers won the first two heats, while Malcolm Ngatai and Carey Harowod had a second and third each.
So Ewers had a slight advantage, but Harwood led early and all the way in the third heat. But behind him, things heated up particularly right near the end of the race. Ewers was running third and on his way to the title, when Ngatai slowed on the last lap. Harwood proceeded OK, but Ngatai managed to cost Ewers one spot which meant a tie for first!
So the Nelson pair of Ewers and Harwood squared off for a 4-lap runoff. At the start there was a bit of toying, but eventually Ewers got the jump. Harwood eventually waited, but to no avail settling for second as Dale raced to back-to-back championships
